The Cake team
Katie O’Rourke grew up in Lismore and loves the Northern Rivers region. After finishing school she went to Brisbane to go to university and stayed on for six years. She came back to the Northern Rivers for a job opportunity and to be closer to her family.
Katie’s understanding of the marketing industry comes from her positions including managing a prominent modelling and promotions agency, being media and marketing manager and has worked with brands such as Bonds, Napoleon Perdis, Lorna Jane, Garnier, Brisbane Broncos, TP Health, Southern Cross University and NSW Cancer Council.
Complementing her diverse experience Katie has a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing (Integrated Marketing Communications) from QUT, a Graduate Certificate in Research Management, is currently studying her Master of Business Administration (SCU), is a member of the Australian Marketing Institute and has taught marketing to undergrad students just getting a taste for the exciting world of all things marketing.
Katie has recently completed her role as Lismore City Centre Manager, a client of Cake Marketing (with Katie working solely on this project). Since being in the role from early 2011 her aim was to promote and activate Lismore’s City Centre in order to achieve the vision of positioning the place as a desired and vibrant destination for the residents and visitors to conduct business, socialise, enjoy the products, services and place. Key projects have included:
- The Back Alley Gallery street art project
- The Back Alley Gallery short film
- Lismore Come to the Heart website, including business directory, events calendar,
- Carols by Candlelight – over 8,000 people attended in 2013 and over 9,000 in 2012
- Lismore Come to the Heart social media presence: Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest
- Lismore Produce Market, held every Thursday from 3.30pm over 300 people enjoy the event in the CBD
Katie is currently working with VIA Byron, the Byron Shire’s Visitor Industry Association on an upcoming marketing campaign for the Shire in association with Destination NSW.
