brands we love – samantha wills

Each week Katie and Mel are going to tell you all about the brands they love, for their marketing, for the message they portray...or simply because they have a shopping addiction.

This week, Katie talks about a her love for the Samantha Wills brand.

1. LOGO:

The Samantha Wills logo has two elements – the icon combining the S and W of the brand name, and also the name of the brand. This enables the logo elements to be used independently of each other or together and easily adapted no matter the medium in which they are presented – from swing tag and signage to online or in print. The design, particularly of element two, the name, is timeless. By choosing simply black with a strong font the logo will have longevity, the dream of every good brand, and is also a nod to other fashion labels Samantha Wills looks up to including Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. At present Samantha Wills has added a soft blush pink tone to the branding, perfectly on trend and ultra feminine, again showing the diversity of creating a timeless logo.

2. HOW WE MET

It was many years ago when I first read an article about a young woman from Port Macquarie who went from selling her handcrafted jewellery at the Bondi Markets to showcasing her designs at Australian Fashion Week. Having always loved jewellery design and a jewellery box full of my own creations since a child (including a period where I sold these in Byron Bay, Brisbane and Lismore) I was inspired. I was excited. And there were shiny things so I was captivated!

3. WHY WE ARE STILL TOGETHER

Well, they are shiny things! From the view of my personal jewellery collection it is because the SW collection of jewels is constantly evolving and SW is producing amazing pieces which don’t merely ride the coattails of trends but instead set them.

From a marketing and business perspective we are still together because the Samantha Wills team reinforces the brand at every touchpoint. The products and service are very high quality which nowadays is not easy to find. This resonates from the quality of the online store through to the packaging and notes received with each purchase. SW has brilliantly used online and social media to engage with customers and has made herself – her loves, hopes, personal projects, dreams and more – accessible.

4. FAVOURITE MEMORY

Receiving my SW Love Letter ring. It wasn’t my first SW purchase but I bought it as a gift to myself for achieving one of my major goals so the sentimental value makes it so special.

The inscription is beautiful Fleetwood Mac song lyrics, “Peacekeeper take your time. Want for the dark of night. Soon all the suns will rise. Peacekeeper don’t tell why. Don’t be afraid to fight. Love is the sweet surprise.”

Since then I seem to purchase an SW piece to mark those special moments in time.

5. WHY DO YOU LOVE THEM OVERALL?

At the heart of the SW brand is the team and the products. Their service is exceptional and the products divine. This is an unstoppable combination and one which will see my jewellery box overflow for many years to come.
